This lovely little cabin is an authentic summer pasture house. Until no so many years ago, the local farmers herded their cows to the higher mountain valleys during summer, in order to grow more feed at home. Since the cows needed milking some women would have to live there for the summer. They would then churn butter which was collected and brought to the markets.
Many of these houses later fell into disrepair but some have been kept for holiday purposes.
It can by used all year. In summer it offers great hiking opportunities, in winter it's great for cross country and Telemark skiing.
There are 7 lakes around the cabin and the fishing license comes very cheap.
Distances to the towns are: Ålesund: 90 kms, Åndalsnes: 24 kms.
The cabin is best reached by car, there is a long way to the nearest bus stop. The road is a private toll road. Each entrance costs about 75 NOK.
In winter a 4-wheel drive may be useful, but even then, the skis may have to be used for the last part.
